Sony RX100 as Movie Machine

We tested our RX100 for the first time for video. All footage was shot at 1080p60 handheld. We see less aliasing and moire than from the NEX-5n/7.
We used out Zacuto Z-Finder as a loupe. Looks funky but works.

This provides a very large viewfinder image. The image stabilization on the RX100 works fine. Too bad the RX100 does not feature a ND filter.
Have a look at an alternative way to use the RX100 for video.

Nice little gadget.
The quality even in low light is acceptable and after denoising and deshaking in PremierePro the results are astonishingly good!
I made a whole test-series in the Frankfur subways, trains and trams.
Of couse, with the high light contrasts, fast moving, in this environment, any camera reaches its boundaries. Sound is, as expected, not up to standards, but with Audition improvable.
However, a lot better than many standard video cameras off-shelf. (reaction of my wife: why is this thing so much better than my new viseo-cam?)
I am very happy with this cam, both still and video.
This really is the first in-pocket-carry-around-device that meets my requirements and I carry it with me now at all times!

Same here.
Uwe-
This is wonderful...may I ask which exact Z-Finder model you have? Is it the most current Z-Finder Pro? Do you find the framing works, I have heard the camera sits a bit too low for the front adjustment ring to move properly - about to order a Z-Finder Pro just want to make sure it will work as you have described :)

The fit is not perfect. Needed to use only one screw on the Gorilla Plate. Yes, the camera LCD is too low.
