Major Spot Healing in Lightroom

While the Spot Removal tool is designed to correct smaller blemishes it can sometimes even repair major damages.

Historic building with not so historic sign (means No Parking) This is a nice building and a nice door but the sign spoils the party (at least for us). We could remove it in Photoshop but gave Lightroom a shot first.

Spot Healing with low opacity to show the signWith Opacity 100% to show the final healing effect We use a large healing brush (mode Heal) to cover the entire sign. Then we moved the source circle so that the vertical lines got lined up.
We think in this case the correction worked very well and the viewer would hardly know there was a sign in the first place.

Final Result

This example shows that it may often be worth even correcting larger spots in Lightroom. Best you always try in Lightroom first as it does not cost much and works even non-destructively.
